RHPcord Productions was born on May 12, 1970. 3:15 in the morning, to be exact. In a little town near Los Angeles called West Covina. It was a momentous occasion attended by many of the professionals of the day. There were even a few doctors present. The company was actually conceptualized nine months earlier by Mr. & Mrs. Roger Hanson Pollard Sr. They had been trying to create just such a venture for years, and now had a fully functional enterprise. The company began as a simple Research and Development firm, testing the boundaries of its new existence. Much effort was put into new communication technology, and mobility studies, to further enhance the companies standing in the world. Education became a first priority as soon as the company was born, with the first lesson being to never let a doctor hang you upside down and spank you. The formative years were marked by a number of important accomplishments. We secured our first training on a computer, the Apple IIe, and subsequently ended up purchasing our first computing device, a TRS80. This was also our first experience with outdated technology and the risks of purchasing it. We developed a love for the arts, especially that which can be attached to refrigerators with magnets. Gold stars were our most favorite rating, but blue and red were looked forward to by the founders of the company, affectionately called Mom and Dad. They funded a number of workshops designed to provide the company with a solid understanding of creativity. These workshops, known as finger-paints, proved very useful in determining that as a company, we did not like to stay within the lines. These years also provided us with our first taste of failure, after a major accident on a Big Wheel almost put the company out of business. Recuperation of our President, Mr. Pollard, was swift, but it left him with an aversion to three-wheeled vehicles. It also taught him not to go anywhere without first testing the brakes of the vehicle, and making sure that there are no large ground floor windows which might prove tempting to drive through. All in all, the Formative Years were a period of learning and understanding the new world RHPcord Productions found itself in. And provided a way to succeed in the next phase of our development, The Computer Years. |
